Main Street Scarecrow Contest Will Benefit Payson Food Bank

A fireman scarecrow? A scientist scarecrow? A chef scarecrow?

What kind of scarecrow would you like to make?

The Payson Main Street Merchants Guild will hold its first scarecrow contest to benefit the Payson St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank.

Have fun creating your own scarecrow for your family, business or nonprofit organization. Then vote for your favorite. Community voting will be held during First Friday on Nov. 7, from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Entrants will be allowed one vote per non-perishable food item donated.

Bring your non-perishable food items with you on First Friday Nov. 7 and vote at all participating Main Street Guild Merchants.

The top three vote-getters will each receive a gift certificate for a complete Thanksgiving dinner from Safeway.

Contest entry forms and contest rules are available at all Main Street Guild Merchants displaying a scarecrow poster, and at the Office of Tourism and Economic Vitality, 600 S. Green Valley Parkway, (928) 468-6074. Contest entry forms are due by Oct. 31.
