October is just about over! Just one more week to go, but what a week it will be. Halloween is fast approaching and election day is not too far behind.
We filled up our propane tank in anticipation of the cold weather and we are sealing up places to hold in the heat. So far, there has been one weekend a few weeks ago with very cold temperatures that ruined most gardens and plants. Since then, it has been pretty chilly, but not very cold.
Thank goodness! Since the price of propane is pretty high, anywhere we can save some money is a good thing.
The big yard sale on Oct. 25, at Tonto Village Fire Station #22 is coming together. People are dropping stuff off at the station and many of the residents are going through their garages, etc. to donate to the sale. The Fireflies stress that no clothes will be accepted. The big sale will start at 9 a.m. until ? The time will be determined by how many items are left by afternoon. It would be helpful if the items could be pre-priced. Contact Lori at 478-0391 or Judie at 478-0193 if you have any questions.
That same day, Oct. 25, a few of the board members from Hellsgate Fire Department will be meeting at station #21 in Star Valley to discuss possible sites for a new fire station.
The meeting will start at 10 a.m. and is open to the public. If you need more information, call the Hellsgate administration office at 474-3835.
Halloween is on a Friday this year, a fine night for a bit of celebrating by the adults. The Double D Bar is holding a costume party that night with live music by Rockin’ Ron Gibson, and prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. So, after the kiddies have their fun collecting treats, the adults can go out and enjoy the evening, too. The fun starts at 8 p.m. so get that spooky costume out of the closet and have some adult fun.
Just four days later, things get pretty serious. Election Day is Nov. 4 and your vote counts more than ever this year. If you have decided to vote early, or by mail, that is a good thing. The important thing is that you vote. Don’t let this day get past you and not vote. This district is the Zane Grey District #255 and you will vote in Christopher Creek at the Christopher Creek Bible Fellowship Church at 1036 Christopher Creek Loop. It is the church on top of the hill next to the fire station. The polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. I hope to see you there.
