Residents of and visitors to the Rim Country are invited to have some Octoberfest fun from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Swiss Village.
Events include face painting, pumpkin painting, hayrides, a chocolate fountain, games for kids, a Haunted Hop Costume Contest and treat at each store.
The Haunted Hop Costume Contest will start at Fireside Espresso, where each youngster will get a number and a “passport card” showing participating merchants. The kids will then visit the stores to have their passport card stamped. The merchants will judge the costumes for prizes. Costume categories include scariest and most original.
The Payson FFA Club will have members at the event with animals, including perhaps horses to ride and some students will bring their small animals — not to mention the Payson Candle Factory’s famous potbelly pig, Princess Paisly.
In addition, the Model T Car Club will display its collector cars, and the Kiwanis Club will sell hot dogs and brats. KMOG radio will do a live remote broadcast from the scene.
Visitors can enjoy a horse-drawn hayride from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and drop into the bounce house by the Candle Factory.
The Sugar Shack will have the chocolate fountain, in which guests can dip fresh fruit or pound cake. Face painters will set up at Payson Florist and Gifts and pumpkin painters at Fireside Espresso. Paper & Metal Scrappers will offer a Craft Make and Take; and Head to Toe Essentials Salon and To Massage or Knot will offer games.
