Bowling event will raise cash for cancer
October 27, 2008
Pin busters will soon have the two-fold opportunity of fine-tuning their lane skills while helping a worthwhile cause.
It all begins at 2 p.m. Nov. 2 at Rim Country Lanes where Safeway will host Bowling for a Cure. The benefit is being held to help raise money for breast cancer research and treatment.
In addition to participants enjoying hours of bowling fun and competition, the benefit will include raffles, music and prizes for the top fund-raisers.
The fee for bowling is $25.
Safeway manager Dan Dillon says Bowling for a Cure is the culmination of the store’s efforts to help raise money for breast cancer awareness.
In all, the store has earned about $11,000 through a variety of benefits hosted by various departments in the store.
Last week, it was the bakery’s turn at fund-raising, and the employees opted to hold a bake sale in front of the store.
“I think the meat department now has its turn and they have something special coming up,” Dillon said.
Those who would like to participate in Bowling for a Cure may register online at http://www.active.com/page/Event_Details.htm?event_id=1642273&assetId=2df83319-eb6f-47cc.
Also, business owners are needed as lane sponsors at the bowling benefit.
