Kenneth James Shearer, 70, of Pine, died Sept. 3, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer.
The youngest of eight children, he was born Nov. 3, 1937 in New Kensington, Pa. to Harry Shearer and Gladys Jones.
After leaving the Air Force, Mr. Shearer worked for Lockheed for 15 years.
He then joined the APS family in 1977 where he worked until retiring in 2002.
Mr. Shearer had a passion for country, cars and airplanes, and above all, a passion for people.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ward "Puddle"; sons, E. Dean and Damon; daughter, Meghan; three grandsons, a granddaughter, and a soon-to-be great-grandson. He is also survived by sisters, Allwynne (Earl) Miller and Margaret Shouse; many nieces and nephews; and a world of friends.
He was preceded in death by both parents and five brothers.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 12 at Messinger Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Road in Phoenix.
Memorial donations may be made to RTA Hospice of Payson or the American Cancer Society.
