Side Street Strutters Kick Off Tcca's 30th Season

The Tonto Community Concert Association launches its concert season Tuesday, Sept. 16. The Side Street Strutters, a vivacious, six-piece jazz band, lead out as the first of eight concerts to appear at the Payson High School Auditorium in a performance starting at 7 p.m.

In this, their silver anniversary season, the Side Street Strutters will bring the excitement, vitality and spontaneity of America's jazz heritage to Arizona Rim Country in the TCCA's premier concert of its 30th season.

Side Street Strutters, New Orleans-style jazz group formed in Arizona is the first of eight premium performances planned by the Tonto Community Concert Association for 2008-2009.

Since 1983, the ensemble has brought to the stage an exciting, entertaining and educational show experience, which has been enjoyed by audiences in theaters and performing arts centers throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe.

The Strutters' vast repertoire includes traditional jazz of New Orleans, popular jazz melodies of Porter, Gershwin and other, exciting swing sounds of the big band era, and more.

Music associated with 16-piece orchestras is beautifully crafted specifically for the Strutters, resulting in powerful musical arrangements and an exciting performance, which breathes new life into the classic hits of the jazz age.

In addition to exciting musical arrangements that showcase the extraordinary talents of each performer, the Strutters' entertaining show style presentation also includes colorful costumes, tap dancing, vocal selections, novelty numbers, and the use of rare and unusual musical instruments.
