Arthur Elmer Gardner


Arthur Elmer Gardner was born May 12, 1923 to Hugh Elmer Gardner and Emma Lavell Boswell in Eureka, Utah. He was the oldest of three children; he had a sister named Imogene and a younger brother named Allen.

On Sept. 15, 1942, Mr. Gardner married Laura Marie Quarnberg. In June of 1943, the couple was blessed with their first child, Artha Doreen.

Shortly after starting his family, he was drafted into the Army to serve in World War II. He served his country honorably, and was discharged over a year later after being injured in the line of duty. Mr. Gardner was a recipient of many awards during his military service, including the Purple Heart.

After returning home, the couple had two more children: Robert Dean was born in July of 1945, followed by Fredie Elmer in September of 1949. After 43 wonderful years together, Mrs. Gardner died.

Mr. Gardner married Letha Jean Gardner Sept. 21, 1985. They enjoyed 23 years together and loved to spend time at their second home in Colcord Mountain Estates near Christopher Creek.

He is survived by his wife, Letha Jean; sister, Imogene Quarnberg; children, Artha Gardner, Robert (Deanna) Gardner and Fredie (Cecilia Christine) Gardner; stepsons, Gary (Sandra) Gardner and Darryl (Jane) Gardner; 13 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 3.

Arrangements were handled by Green Acres Cemetery.
