Members of the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be at the Payson Public Library, 328 N. McLane Road, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17 to greet guests and distribute information about the Constitution as part of Constitution Week.

Payson Women's Community Bible Study

The new year of the Payson Women's Community Bible Study begins, Thursday, Sept. 18.

The goal of the program is to help Rim Country women to cope with everyday life through the study of God's Word.

This year the study will be of "A Heart Like His - Seeking the Heart of God Through a Study of David" by Beth Moore, with small group discussion and video teaching by Beth Moore.

A kickoff brunch, introduction to the study and distribution of study books will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 18. The program continues each Thursday morning through May 7, 2009. Cost of materials $ 25.

Childcare available, note if it is needed on registration materials.

The program is sponsored by Ponderosa Baptist Church, 1800 N. Beeline Highway.

Hear about the Titanic

On April 10, 1912 the greatest ship of its time departed on its maiden voyage from England to New York. It had been advertised as the most luxurious ship afloat and was practically unsinkable.

Paul Moore, a noted ship historian, has been researching the Titanic for more than 35 years and has discovered new information regarding the ship's design and the real probable cause of its sinking.

Moore will speak on this subject at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18 at Community Presbyterian Church, 800 W. Main.

Tickets are available for $10 and may be purchased at the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, KMOG Radio and the Payson Roundup.

Coffee with CASA

Come join the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) for coffee and doughnuts and an opportunity to learn more about volunteering with CASA. The event is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19 at the Payson Public Library, 328 N. McLane Road. Free program on ‘Last Diet You Will Ever Need'

A free program on "The Last Diet You Will Ever Need" will be presented next week.

Cindy Bryant and Vivian Seville of Healthy Perspectives Mind-Body Weight Management Clinic will present the program at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16 in Payson; 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 19 in Pine; and 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 20 in Payson.

Natural health educators Bryant, a lifestyle advisor, and Seville, a joyologist, will provide an overview to lose an average of three to five pounds of fat per week; re-establish health and vitality inside and out; learn and utilize the mind-body connection to reshape your body to its "natural state"; enjoy a healthier and more satisfying lifestyle.

Pet calendar photo shoot

Primp your pooch and fluff up your feline for another photo shoot for Payson Humane Society's 2009 Pet Calendar!

Join us from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 at Rumsey Park's Ramada 5 on North McLane Road. The event is in conjunction with the second annual KCMA Listener and Sponsor Appreciation Party.

There is no cost for the photo shoot, but donations to the shelter are welcome. The cost to have your pet's photo in the calendar is $20. The calendars will sell for $10.

Our first-rate photographer will capture the heart and soul of your pet, but should it be impossible for you to get your pet to the photo shoot, we will also accept high-resolution photos of your own. Limit the photos to animals only, please.

You may select the date you wish to have your pet's photo featured on the calendar, but you will be asked to select alternate dates as all requests will be first come, first served. Forms will be available at the event, and are also available at the Payson Humane Society, 812 S. McLane Road.

The calendar's front cover photo will be auctioned off at the Sept. 19 Humane Society fund-raiser dance at Mazatzal Casino. Don't miss a chance to have your pet on the cover.

Library Game Night

Bring the family for a fun night of board games and more at the Payson Public Library from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 19. All ages are welcome. No sign-up is necessary. Light snacks will be provided. The library facilities will be closed. Games will be in the meeting room only.

Jordan Circus

The Zane Grey Shrine Club will benefit from a portion of the proceeds raised at two performances of the Jordan Circus at the Payson Event Center Wednesday, Sept. 17. The shows are at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with setup starting at 8 a.m. The featured act of the circus will be the daredevil horsemanship of the Kambarov Troupe of Russia. The circus will also have elephants, a bear, aerial acts and clowns. For details, call (702) 456-2642.

Waterfowl 101

Mike Rabe, migratory bird supervisor for the Arizona Game and Fish Department, will present a program on waterfowl natural history and identification from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Sept. 24 starting at the parks office, 1000 W. Country Club Drive. There will be a slide show and a field workshop, identifying waterfowl in Green Valley Park. The cost is $5 per person, age 10 and older, and it is recommended participants bring binoculars. Register by Sept. 19.
