The Payson Roundup / Deadline nears to register for county spelling bee

Plans are currently being made for the 2009 Gila County Spelling Bee. Linda O'Dell, Gila County Superintendent of Schools, looks forward to sending a strong, competitive speller from Gila County to the Arizona State Spelling Bee in May 2009.

Registration is now under way, and must be completed by Oct. 15, at the Scripps National Spelling Bee Web site: www.spellingbee.com.

The fee to register is $99 which may be reimbursed by the office of the County Superintendent of Schools.

In addition, several resources to help create enthusiastic participation and preparation are available from O'Dell's office at no extra charge.

The Gila County Spelling Bee will take place at 1 p.m., Feb. 6, 2009 at the Miami High School auditorium. Feb. 20 has been designated a back up date in case of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
