I would like to thank and congratulate the students and staff of Payson High School for selflessly donating 60 units of blood last Thursday.
I spoke with the coordinator from United Blood Services. She stated that Payson High School donated more blood than any other school in the northern half of the state. I can't begin to tell you how great it is to feel the energy as kids filter in all day to give the gift of life.
Thank you also to the Key Club and sponsor Barb DeWeese for her hard work and coordination.
Also (thank you) to community members who came in to donate.
Not that we would keep score but a quick glance at "donating scores" around the 3A East reveals: Show Low 40, Blue Ridge 13, Snowflake 30, Round Valley N/A (they do a community blood drive), Alchesay 0, Payson High 60! Wow! Wouldn't a hundred be great?
Student government will bring United Blood Services back to Payson High in January and again in March. They tell me that all the blood is used locally.
Now that's contributing to your community! Thanks!
