The Payson Public Library has scheduled the following events:

September is "Library Card Sign-up" Month. Get your library card now!

What do I need to get a library card? It's so easy.

If you are a resident of Payson or the surrounding area (Star Valley, Pine, Strawberry, Rye, Gisela, Tonto Basin, Christopher Creek, Forest Lakes, Heber and Happy Jack), you are eligible to get a free Payson Public Library card.

You will need: to be at least 18 years or older (children must have the signature of a parent or guardian), a valid photo ID, proof of a current Gila County mailing address (this can be a utility bill, rent receipt, etc.), driver's license, provide date of birth, name of a local reference (not living in your household).

There is no fee to get a library card. Once you have a card, if it is lost there is a $1 replacement fee. You will need to present your card in order to check out any items.

Bored? Game Night, Friday, Sept. 19, 6-9 p.m. Bring the family for a fun night of board games, card games and more at the Payson Public Library.

All ages welcome. No sign-up necessary. Light snacks provided. Library facilities will be closed. In meeting room only.

Game On: Guitar Hero Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 1-4 p.m.

Open to ages 10-18 years old. Sign up early and everyone gets to play.

Snacks will be provided. Winner gets "ultimate bragging rights."

Need help with your homework? Stop by every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 4-6 p.m. to the Young Adult Room.

Baker and Taylor Cat Calendar Contest for Kids.

Your artwork could be on a national calendar.

Budding artists ages 14 and under have a chance to enter their work in the 4th annual Baker and Taylor Cat Calendar Contest.

The art contest asks kids to draw the famous cat mascots, Baker and Taylor, on vacation in any position or setting, in any medium. Pick up a flyer at the Payson Public Library for contest details and rules. Entries must be submitted by Monday, Sept. 29.

Spy Club is for kids who enjoy reading and hanging out. We meet monthly for an hour on Saturdays at Payson Public Library Meeting Room, and are open to kids ages 7-17 years old. Sign up at the Payson Public Library to join, or call Harryette at (928) 474-9260 for more information.

Our next meeting will be on Oct. 18, from 2-3 p.m. Games and snacks provided.
