Payson Has Three Finalists Up For Main Street Awards

Each year the Arizona Main Street Program accepts nominations in nine categories.

Payson competes with 14 other communities for the Arizona Main Street Program awards.

This year, three of Payson’s submittals were chosen as finalists:

• Best promotional materials, Town of Payson tourism Web site;

• Best special event, Payson’s First Friday Art and Antiques Walk on Main Street ; and

• Individual of the year, Minette Richardson.

Each entrant will be recognized and the winners will be announced during the luncheon on the final day of the Governor’s Rural and Regional Development Conference, Sept. 26, in the Saguaro Ballroom at the Carefree Resort and Villas.

In 2003, Payson won three Main Street awards for the Pine Country Animal Clinic and Homespun Memories, Mad Dawg’s and Mel’s restaurant and the Main Street entry monuments.
