Time Out is holding its annual candlelight walk/vigil Thursday, Oct 9, honoring those who have died and those who have survived the social epidemic known as domestic violence.
Participants will meet at the Payson Town Hall parking lot at 5:45 p.m., where they will be given candles and signs to carry, if desired. At 6 p.m. the assembled group will line up to begin a brief walk to the Payson United Methodist Church, where a short program and refreshments will be provided.
The program highlight will be a survivor’s story. This event is one of many activities planned by Time Out, the area’s domestic violence shelter, in recognition of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The candlelight walk/vigil is intended to help raise awareness and sensitivity to a topic that is sometimes difficult to understand.
Men are encouraged to attend as, contrary to common assumption, they, too, can become victims of domestic violence. For more information, call (928) 472-8007.
