Police Seek Suggestions, Tips On Problem Areas

The Payson Police Department is looking for problem areas in town and is encouraging complaints, suggestions and tips from residents.

“A problem area could be anything from an area frequented by drug users, an area where there may be gang activity to a graffiti problem,” a press release from PPD states, “even expanding Neighborhood Watch at a neighborhood plagued by crime, drugs or violence.”

The police department plans to fix the problems within a year or by the next National Night Out in 2010.

The second annual National Night Out kicks off this August. Last year Payson received a national award for its participation in the event.

The evening of the event is filled with block parties and neighborhood get-togethers to encourage neighbors to lock their doors turn on their lights and party with their neighbors.

The PPD is also searching for business or club sponsors to host booths at Green Valley Park at the daylong event Aug. 1.

The event includes games for children and several free activities.
