Landfill to honor Earth with free ‘green’ day and appliance disposal event
In honor of Earth Day, the Buckhead Mesa landfill will accept greenwaste at no charge on Saturday, April 18 to encourage residents to clear their property of weeds and brush in preparation for wildfire season. Greenwaste includes trees, brush, grass clippings and leaves.
On May 9, the landfill fees will be waived for all appliances made of metal: washers, dryers, refrigerators, hot water heaters and other metal items. No trash of any kind can be mixed with the metal, so please separate your loads.
Donate vehicles to PAHH for Earth Day
Payson Area Habitat for Humanity is participating in Earth Day April 18 by promoting a “Cars for Homes” drive. The campaign encourages donations of unwanted vehicles, with proceeds from the sales of Payson-donated vehicles to benefit PAHH’s local mission to build affordable homes for those in need, and helping to break cycles of poverty and homelessness.
Complete details of the simple process to follow are available by calling toll free (877) 277-4344 or online at http://www.carsforhomes@habitat.org.
