The Beeline Cruise-In will bring almost 300 automotive beauties into Payson this weekend. The 16th annual Rim Country Classic Auto Show is Saturday, April 25 at Green Valley Park.
Participant events begin on Friday, April 24, but the public event is Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Antique, vintage and classic vehicles — some one-of-a-kinds — will be on display, coming from throughout Arizona and out of state.
Expect to see the vehicles start arriving Thursday afternoon, because participants start signing in at 11 a.m. at the park. The big lineup starts at 3 p.m., Friday, April 24 in preparation for the cruise parade around Payson.
The cruise is designed to introduce participants in the show to the larger Payson community.
The big cruise is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will travel east on Main Street from Green Valley Park, north on the Beeline from the intersection with Main, and then east on Highway 260 to Tyler Parkway, where it will then go north and west back to the Beeline and start south. The caravan will go west on Longhorn to McLane, where it will turn south and go back to Main, turn west and return to Green Valley Park.
Participants will then enjoy a picnic supper and music under the stars and other special events.
Saturday, cars will start taking their exhibition spots in the park at 7 a.m., with the show opening at 8 a.m. and running until 4 p.m. An added special event this year — the Shopping Shuttle Madness — will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To take part in the event, you can buy a special wristband for $1 and visit shops throughout the community and collect tickets for raffles throughout the day (it is not necessary to be present to win). A shuttle will deliver guests to the shops, or you may use your own vehicle. The raffles and 50-50 drawings are planned for noon and 3 p.m., with another raffle between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Awards will be presented to winning participants between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
In addition to the spectacular cars on display, there will be more than 40 vendors featuring automotive-themed merchandise and more. There will be food too — offered for sale by the Payson Lions Club to help raise funds for its charity work, along with others. Admission to the public is free, but the proceeds from entries and vendor space rentals make it possible for the members of the Rim Country Classic Auto Club to make generous donations to a number of charities serving the residents of the area. The Beeline Cruise-In also generates revenue for other businesses providing lodging and meals to the numerous participants.
The Rim Country Classic Auto Club is a nonprofit, incorporated organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of classic automobiles and street rods.
