A new real estate company has taken up shop in the Rim Country, and according to the man who made the move possible, it is one of the premier real estate companies in the world.
Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty opened at 906 S. Beeline Highway, west of Chili’s, April 1.
The office used to be home to Windermere Realty, which was owned locally by Butch Joyner for five years.
Now the associate broker at Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty, Joyner said he is excited to begin working under the new name.
“We are thrilled to have the new name,” he said. “Sotheby’s and Russ Lyon are the premier real estate companies, they are a well recognized, respected and ethical company.”
Joyner originally brought Windermere Realty to Payson in 2004. Windermere, which is primarily a Washington-based company that franchises its name out, first opened offices in Arizona in 2003. Joyner quickly opened his own Windermere office in Payson a year later.
Before opening his own franchise in 2004, Joyner worked at The Rim Club in 1996 as the original sales person and has worked in Arizona real estate since 1981.
When Joyner heard Sotheby’s and Russ Lyon merged last year, he said he knew he wanted to be a part of the company and bring the name to Payson.
“Sotheby’s is one of the most recognized auction houses worldwide,” he said.
Russ Lyon has serviced the Valley and Scottsdale area for 61 years as the premier upper-end real estate company.
In the East Valley alone, Russ Lyon Realty Company has around 700 agents with 1,000 agents total in the Phoenix, Flagstaff, Prescott and Sedona areas.
These agents can now make use of the Payson office and refer Valley residents looking for a vacation home to Joyner and his nine other agents.
Joyner said working with Windermere was great, but sees the move to Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty as a step up for the Rim Country.
The reaction from clients, whose accounts have all transferred over, has been “wow,” Joyner said of the name change.
Joyner said besides a new name, he is excited to offer buyers a new Web site with comprehensive listings.
“They have a great online site,” he said.
The office even has a Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE). Realtor Guy Pfister said he can help anyone who has or is considering a foreclosure, short sale or loan modification.
“As a CDPE, I can guide folks with accurate information to improve their financial situation,” Pfister said.
Pfister came to the area to help clients through the difficult economic times.
“The service we provide is to allow folks to keep their home, save their credit or both,” Pfister said. “We are trying to educate as many people as possible to help save their home and credit.”
Pfister said he charges no up front fees and only receives payment from the bank if successful in a short sale.
