A 27-year-old man was arrested Aug. 3 after stabbing his girlfriend.

Joseph Piro of Payson was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, domestic violence and criminal damage, said Payson Police Detective Mike McAnerny.

On Aug. 3, around 8:30 p.m., Payson Police received a call from Payson Regional Medical Center who reported a woman in the emergency room who said she was the victim of a stabbing.

Responding officers learned from the woman that Piro had stabbed her at their home in the 300 block of West Bonita Street.

Police went to the home, found Piro and arrested him.

The woman was released from the hospital after receiving medical treatment.
