Rapid-fire announcers blaring over the loudspeaker and frenzied fans can make the average Joe feel a bit lost at the 125th Annual World’s Oldest Continuous Rodeo. But with these definitions and descriptions under your oversized belt buckle, Mr. City-slicker, even you can converse like a real cowboy.

The spirit of the West lives on through the sport of professional rodeo. And that spirit will descend on Payson with the 125th Annual World’s Oldest Continuous Rodeo. Events are planned from Wednesday, Aug. 12 through Sunday, Aug. 16.
Harry Shill – official Payson Rodeo Ambassador

On July 1, 2009, Payson Mayor Kenny Evans proclaimed Harry Shill be to Payson’s official Town Rodeo Ambassador. Harry’s job is to promote the sport of rodeo in Payson. Harry plans to promote rodeo in the newspapers, on the radio, and in large and small groups of interested people. Payson organizations may want to invite him to speak.
Parties, music, added fun pack rodeo weekend

Talk to someone who remembers the Payson Rodeos held in the early 1960s or before and one of the common favorite memories are the parties and dances that were held. They were events the whole family could enjoy. The celebrations accompanying the 125th Annual World’s Oldest Continuous Rodeo will return to that fondly remembered tradition with several dances, including one just for youngsters and another for the entire family.
Campaign against cancer returns to rodeo

The Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign was first introduced at the 2004 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo when breast cancer survivor Terry Wheatley asked her son, team roper Wade Wheatley, to wear a pink shirt at one performance. Wade convinced his fellow contestants to join him, so Wrangler quickly produced enough pink shirts for every NFR contestant.
