Talk to someone who remembers the Payson Rodeos held in the early 1960s or before and one of the common favorite memories are the parties and dances that were held. They were events the whole family could enjoy. The celebrations accompanying the 125th Annual World’s Oldest Continuous Rodeo will return to that fondly remembered tradition with several dances, including one just for youngsters and another for the entire family.
The Rodeo Reunion is a tribute to the parties of the past. The sixth annual Rodeo Reunion will be held Saturday, Aug. 15 at Rumsey Park Ramada 4. There will be an old-fashioned barbecue served with all the trimmings. Admission is a $5 donation per person.
All proceeds will benefit a scholarship for a Payson High School senior.
Cowboys and cowgirls from the past 50 years will be on hand to visit and sign autographs of your copy of the “Rodeo 101” book, a history of the Payson Rodeo, by Jayne Peace Pyle and Jinx Pyle.
The reunion golf tournament starts the day — sponsorships for course holes are still available. For more information, call coordinators Harry or Sharron Shill at (928) 476-3334.
