Payson Parks and Recreation Department is continuing the fun through fall. The staff has lined up plenty of activities for young people, adults and families in the coming weeks.
A new adult flag football league is organizing. The deadline to register a team is Aug. 20 and the cost is $200. Play is for those 16 and older and the season starts Aug. 31 and will take place Wednesdays and Fridays. Only 12 team spots are available, so sign up soon.
There will also be a new co-ed softball league playing this fall. The registration deadline is Aug. 20 and the cost is $250 per team. Play is for those 16 and older and begins Aug. 31.
Sept. 6, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., there will be a free family fossil and geode hunt. Parks and recreation staff and volunteers will guide you on a geode and fossil hunt just 20 minutes from Payson off of the Control Road.
Participants will carpool or caravan with the group and should bring their own water and snacks, as well as backpacks or bags. There are no restroom facilities at the site. Be prepared to hike up to two miles round trip to the site, but the hiking is fairly level and easy. Meet at 1 p.m. at the southeast corner of The Home Depot parking lot to caravan to site.
