PSFD Pancake Breakfast

The Pine-Strawberry Fire Department personnel and members of the Strawberry Elites will present a pancake breakfast as part of the Labor Day weekend fun in Pine. 

All you can eat pancakes will be served from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 6 at the Pine Community Center. The cost is $5 per plate and buys all you can eat pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice. Eat up and enjoy and annual Labor Day Weekend Craft Fair.

The craft fairs in Pine always provide great venues for starting Christmas shopping, as does the big arts and crafts sale on the Gila County Courthouse grounds in Payson.

This year the holiday weekend shoppers also have the Payson Farmers Market to visit on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to noon. At the market you can find fresh produce to make some homemade treats to give as gifts are get some of the already made jams, jellies and locally produced honey to share with family and friends or just to keep a taste of summer through the coming fall and winter months.

Book Sale, Raffle

Pine Library Friends will host a Book Sale and Raffle over Labor Day Weekend. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5; and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6. The sale will be held in the Pine Library Activity Room, located off Highway 87 and Randall Drive behind the Community Center in Pine.

The raffle prize will be an Americana Reading Nook Basket. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and are on sale at the library.

Hellsgate fund-raiser

The Hellsgate Fire Department Auxiliary Fireflies will host a Labor Day Weekend Fund-raiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5 at Fire Station #22 in Tonto Village, 151 Mathews Lane (1 mile on Control Road off Highway 260).

The event will include a Bar-B-Q featuring a BBQ pork sandwich, coleslaw, beans and fresh corn on the cob for $7 adults, $3 Kids 10 and under. There will be a bake sale with cakes, fruit pies, cookies, breads and more (To donate baked goods, please call Janet at 478-9935). Other activities will be a pie auction; an art show and sale by local artist, Scotty; face painting; air jumper for the kids; 50/50 raffle; free blood pressure checks; and a Rummage Sale. A raffle drawing will be held at 2 p.m. for a quilt, a chain saw or a Nintendo Wii. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Entertainment will be provided by D.J. Larry Ellis and Karaoke.
