La Boutique Gift Shop sale
The La Boutique Gift Shop will be holding a Christmas sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18 in the main lobby of Payson Regional Medical Center.
Bake sale and craft fair
The members of the Payson Senior Circle will have a bake sale and craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18 at the Senior Circle building, 215 N. Beeline Highway. There will be breads, cookies, pies and more, plus holiday décor, crafts and gift items.
GCC presents piano festival
The Gila Community College piano class students of Dr. Victoria Harris will present a piano festival at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18. The program will feature solo and ensemble numbers, as well as the students’ original compositions.
The program will be held in Room 301, the community room, at Gila Community College Payson Campus, 201 N. Mud Springs Road.
The program is open to the public free of charge. Refreshments will be served following the program.
Soldier mail item bogus
In a recent edition of the Roundup, there was a brief notice from a reader encouraging the public to send Christmas cards to “A Recovering American Soldier, c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center” with an address. Two readers have reported the program was bogus.

Brush Pit Schedule
This coming weekend, the Regional Payson Area Project… for a Fire Wise Rim Country (RPAP) will be staffing free brush drop-off points at the following locations, weather permitting:
• Saturday, Dec.19, the Blattner Pit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Blattner Pit is located at Milepost 259.7 on Highway 260, east of Payson.
• On Sunday, Dec. 20, the Pine Pit will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Pine Pit is located .7 of a mile east of Highway 87 on Control Road, south of Pine.
All RPAP free drop-off locations are for brush, leaves, pine needles, trimmings and other vegetative materials only. Properly bagged Yellow Starthistle, or other listed noxious weed species will also be accepted and will be burned. No household garbage, construction debris, or other items will be accepted.
RPAP brush pits are intended for the use of private citizens who are working to clear their properties for wildfire risk reduction and to create defensible space around their homes. They are not intended for commercial use, and use by commercial haulers is prohibited.
Kelly’s Sweet Revenge sets benefit for Marcy Rogers
A benefit to raise money for the funeral expenses for Marcy Rogers, founder of Payson Community Kids, is planned for 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 19 at Kelly’s Sweet Revenge in Star Valley, with the help of the Modified Motorcycle Association Rim Country District.
Items are needed for a raffle and an auction. Donations can be dropped off at Kelly’s anytime. For more info, contact Becca at (928) 978-2850 or Joan at (928) 978-2394.
An account (842043861) has been set up at Chase Bank for donations.
Rogers was found deceased in her home Saturday, Dec. 5. She started the program for “her kids” in 1996, and helped countless families in the community.

Christmas programs Sunday at Mount Cross
Mount Cross Lutheran Church is presenting two Christmas programs Sunday, Dec. 20. The 8:30 a.m. service will be a Christmas Cantata — a service of Christmas music and readings. The 10:30 a.m. service will be a sermon and song service, with music and sermons pertinent to the season. There will be a coffee break between the two services.
The members of the church cordially invite all citizens of Payson to attend. Mount Cross is at 601 E. Highway 260, just east of Safeway.
Payson Center for Spiritual Awareness
Payson Center for Spiritual Awareness, 107 W. Wade Lane, Suite 2, will host Jess McGrady at the Dec. 20 11 a.m. service. For more information, call (602) 793-7611
McGrady has a doctorate of religious studies degree from the Emerson Institute and is also an ordained minister from the Lola Pauline Mays New Thought Seminary in Mesa, Ariz. McGrady currently works full-time at the Risser-Thomas Eye Clinic in Payson.
