Cruise Port Sails The High Seas In New Ship

Earlier this month, Carol and Kelly Watts of Cruise Port Travel returned from a visit to Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and were among the first to experience Royal Caribbean International’s newest cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas.

“It was a fantastic experience, R.C.I. really has created a floating resort with something for every member of the family,” said the Wattses. “The ship is very well laid out and a great feature are interactive LCD screens near the elevators that give you directions to anything on the ship.”

Some of the unique features onboard Oasis of the Seas include a central park neighborhood, the first park at sea with more than 12,000 plants and trees, the boardwalk neighborhood, a family-oriented environment with a hand-carved carousel and the AquaTheater, an amphitheater that serves as a pool by day and a oceanfront aquatic theater by night. There is also a zip wire ride that races diagonally 90 feet above the boardwalk.

“We were honored to share this important and historic moment with our valued travel agent partners,” said Vicki L. Freed, senior vice president of sales, trade support and services for Royal Caribbean International.

“Oasis of the Seas is our most innovative and imaginative ship yet, and the best way for agents to share the excitement of the ship’s unprecedented range of onboard amenities, such as seven themed neighborhoods, 24 delicious dining options, two rock-climbing walls, a thrilling zip-line and spectacular AquaTheater performances, is if they experienced it all for themselves.”

According to Freed, Oasis of the Seas is the largest and most revolutionary cruise ship in the world with 16 decks. It encompasses 225,282 gross registered tons, can carry 5,400 guests at double occupancy, and features 2,700 staterooms. Oasis of the Seas is also the first ship to tout the cruise line’s new neighborhood concept of seven distinct themed areas.

The ship sails throughout the Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
