Level two sex offender now living in Strawberry

Travis Dewayne Gardner, 37, a level two sex offender notified the Gila County Sheriff’s Office he is living in Strawberry.
According to the Community Notification on Sex Offenders Law, the sheriff’s office must notify the community when a sex offender is released from the Arizona state prison system, accepted under an interstate compact, released from the county jail, or moves into an area from another jurisdiction.
Gardner is not wanted by the Gila County Sheriff’s Office or any other agency.
Gardner is 5’11”, 156 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He drives a white 1989 T-Bird with Arizona license plate number 439 KEF and lives at 8931 Dans Highway.
In 2000, Gardner, then 28, was convicted of aggravated indecent liberties with a minor and sentenced to 4.7 years in a Kansas jail.
He served his time and has not had any contact with law enforcement since then.
“This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed community is a safer community,” the Gila County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
“Citizen abuse of this information to harass, intimidate, or threaten sex offenders will not be tolerated.”
