GCC now offering art degree, new classes for spring

Just in time for the spring semester, Gila Community College has unveiled a new associate’s degree in art.
Students interested in pursuing an art degree should sign up for introductory class, ART 102, Color and Design.
In addition to the art classes offered in the past, GCC is offering three new art classes this spring semester, including:
Paper Crafts from 4 p.m. to 5:50 p.m. Tuesdays
Outsider Art (i.e. folk or untaught art) from 8:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. Thursdays
Color and Design from 6 p.m. to 8:50 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays
Other art classes offered include: ceramics, digital photography, drawing, graphic design, jewelry, mixed media techniques, oil painting, pastels, Photoshop, quilting, quilted clothing, scrapbooking, watercolor painting and world art history.
GCC is also offering certification prep classes.
Personal Training from 5:30 p.m. to 9:20 p.m. Wednesdays is designed to develop an understanding of the principles of strength and fitness training, including fitness evaluation, exercise prescription, special populations and nutrition. The class prepares student to take the national certification exam.
EMT basic from 5:30 p.m. to 9:50 p.m. Tuesdays and 8 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. Saturdays is a 9-credit introductory course designed to meet state and national requirements to prepare in testing for the EMT-basic via the National Registry. Clinical experience in an emergency department and vehicular experience is included.
