First Friday Indulges In All Things Sweet

Healthy hearts require walks, good times with friends, neighbors and family and loads of ambiance and humor. All of these are offered at First Friday on Main Street from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 6.

Feb. 6 is “National Wear Red Day for Women” which invites women to take charge of their heart health. Main Street Merchants are encouraging everyone to wear a red shirt, hat, scarf, or any other item to their monthly First Friday on Main Street.

Community Presbyterian Church is a great place to start your walk. The Child Learning Center is offering a heart-healthy Sweetheart Soup & Salad dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Soups include beef barley, Whidbey Island Chicken, and for the romantics, Italian Wedding Soup. The cost is just $5 per bowl. Coleen Brown & The Starlighters will provide live music. There will also be a bake sale.

At Down the Street Art Gallery enjoy music by Bruce Wales.

Conrad Okerwall will be on hand at Bootleg Alley Antiques & Art. Okerwall is offering half of his profits to the charity of your choice. Come buy raffle tickets offered by the Humane Society, which will set up on Bootleg Alley’s porch. As always, there will be music and refreshments.

The Senior Center celebrates First Friday with a Valentine theme. There will be refreshments, live music by Wayne Todd and hourly door prizes. If Feb. 14 is your birthday, you’ll receive a free gift.

Be sure to make a stop at Green Mountain Emporium. New vendors and lots of new merchandise have been added to this quaint mall!

As you munch on Kiwanis brats and hot dogs at Gasoline Alley, enjoy the many classic cars on display. Top your evening by treating your sweetheart to some See’s Chocolates, which are sold by the Soroptimists Club.

Be sure to include Artists of the Rim on your walk. February’s featured artist is Matalyn Gardner.

“It’s gonna be hot, hot, hot in front of Re-Runs Resale Boutique!” exclaims owner Cindy Kofile. Payson High Drama Department’s “Skool Yard Jesters” will provide entertainment. Humor is great medicine for a healthy heart.

Don’t miss this event held in the “heart” of Payson. It’s fun and it’s free. Main Street’s art, antiques, and more walk will be held rain or shine.

As always on-street parking is available or you can park at Community Presbyterian and ride the Main Street Shuttle. First Friday on Main Street is presented by the Payson Main Street Merchants Guild along with the Payson Regional Economic Development Corporation.
