Friends Of Payson Parks And Recreation Seek Financial Donations To Keep Programs

Editor:

As we all know, the Town of Payson is experiencing serious financial constraints because of the downturn in our economy, most of us have experienced much the same thing in one way or another. Some of us have lost money or our job or have concerns about some member of our family who is going through hard times.

The town has had to make some difficult decisions as a result of the economy, one of these decisions has been to dramatically reduce the number of part-time salaries approximately $47,000 for employees that normally assist in running of the various summer programs which are so important to our youth, seniors and other members of the community.

The Friends of Payson Parks and Recreation have undertaken a fund-raising drive to help fund these important programs. So far we have raised $10,276. As you can see, we still have a ways to go.

We have been able to work with Payson Parks and Recreation to fund and keep planned programs operational through March of this year, however, after March, we will run out of funds unless we are successful in our fund-raising efforts.

We are hoping the economy turns around by January 2010 and are hoping to assist in funding programs until then.

Our question to the community is, can some folks afford to donate to our drive? We have been asking businesses to donate $1,000 and individuals $100, but we’ll appreciate any amount they can give!

If folks wish to give something, they can do so by writing a check payable to the Friends of Payson Parks and Recreation (FPPR) and send it to 1000 W. Country Club Dr., Payson, AZ 85541, or drop it by the Parks and Recreation office in Green Valley Park.

Please remember the Friends of Payson Parks and Recreation is a 501-(c)(3) organization, so your donation is tax deductible.
