The Arizona Interscholastic Association has booted the Globe Tigers from the 3A state boys basketball tournament for an alleged violation of the domicile rule.

On Tuesday afternoon, after hearing an appeal from Globe school officials, the AIA revamped the tournament schedule excluding the Tigers who had qualified as the South region's second place team.

In the new tournament schedule, the Horns received the No. 6 state seed and will play an opening round game at 7 p.m. Feb. 21 in Wilson dome against No. 11 seeded Sedona Red Rock.

The infraction in Globe has to do with the Arizona Interscholastic Association’s domicile rule that require a student athlete to live at home in district boundaries with his parents or guardians.

Sources say the infraction could also have some recruiting implications.

The violations were brought last week to the attention of the Globe High School AD who alerted the AIA.
