The Payson Humane Society greatly appreciates the media support the Payson Roundup has given us to build a new facility for the animals that come under our care.
A recent article could lead some to think that we might “gamble” funds that have been graciously donated. We would have preferred moving forward with our plans. Is it a risk? Perhaps. Only time will tell.
We are all in agreement that we have a way to go to fund completion of our new facility. However, our board felt that this should not preclude us from taking baby steps toward the finished product.
As stated in the Roundup, “an effort to reassure donors” would demonstrate our resolve. Not to mention, putting people to work and assisting the local economy at a time that desperately needs all the help we can give.
As reported, “the campaign has brought in only $250,000 in the past three months.” With all due respect, as treasurer of the Payson Humane Society, I’ll take that amount any three months! Nine months from today that will fund Phase 2 and we would have walls and a roof!
Last, but not least, we are in the process of renaming our organization, the Humane Society of Central Arizona. Our name change has been submitted to the Arizona Corporation Commission. Web addresses have been reserved for .net, .org and .com. This name change reflects the geographic scope of our operations to communities such as Pine, Strawberry, Star Valley, Tonto Basin, Gisela and other surrounding areas. We believe this will also enhance our fund-raising capabilities.
Like Cortez, there is no turning back.
As always, thank you for your support. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 242, Payson, AZ 85541, Attn: Building Fund.
