Each year the Payson Roundup invites its readers to tell us what and who provide the best in the Rim Country. In the past the poll has been called “The Best of Payson,” but this year it’s “The Best of Rim Country” because there are good people and good services in all the communities of this beautiful piece of Arizona.

The poll for 2009 sought entries for shopping and services; people; food and drink; places; and best nonprofit organization.

The shopping and services category is the largest of the five and included antique shops, thrift stores, grocery stores, automotive repair shops, auto parts stores, paint stores, hardware stores, insurance companies, gas/convenience stores, gift shops, tire stores, banks, florists, pharmacies, financial advisers, car dealers, home TV/electronics, cell phone providers, home décor, meat retailer, health clubs, radio stations, computers, health food/vitamins and pet groomer.

The people category asked readers to share their choices for best local music group, law enforcement officer, firefighter, barber, masseuse, doctor, dentist, chiropractor, beautician, waitress/waiter, bartender, veterinarian and attorney.

The poll is a great resource if you are looking for the best places to eat in the area. Included in the category are best breakfast restaurant, lunch restaurant, dinner restaurant, restaurant for children, sandwich, pizza, business breakfast/lunch, bar/tavern/saloon, steak dinner, cup of coffee, bakery, fish fry, fast food, best hamburger, Mexican food and margarita.

In the places category, readers were asked to tell us the best hotel/motel, place to fish, place to hike, best Arizona day trip, best place to catch up on town gossip, the best historic site in Rim Country and the best place to meet singles.

Inside this special edition of the Roundup you can see the “winners” of the 2009 poll.
