Payson Womans Club Members Vote To Accept County Offer

I apologize to the Gila County Board of Supervisors, the Payson Womans Club membership, the Daughters of the Gila County Pioneers, the Payson Pioneer Cemetery Board, the Pyle-Holbrook Foundation, supporters of the Payson Womans Club and the Pioneer Cemetery for the outrageous letter in the Jan. 6 issue of the Payson Roundup newspaper submitted by Shirley Lose.

The Payson Womans Club membership met with the assistant county manager John Nelson on Dec. 7, 2008. We voted, in good faith, to accept the county offer to lease the Womans Club building on Main Street for county facilities (but still have the building available for club use).

Shirley Lose called for the vote. Four women abstained, including Shirley. There were no dissenting votes.

Shirley Lose should not have signed her letter as Womans Club president because it certainly did not reflect the wishes of the membership.

Pat Cline

50-year member,
