Colorz Stylists Loves Working With Clients Again

They say a hairstylist is like a best friend, therapist and cosmetologist all rolled into one.

Joan Crawford reportedly once said that the most important thing a woman can have — next to talent, of course — is her hairdresser.

For Raylene Phillips, hairstylists at Colorz Salon, cutting hair and socializing just comes naturally.

“I like to make things pretty and beautiful,” Phillips said. “I love the results after someone comes in with flat color and after two hours in my chair leaves looking great.”

Phillips has been cutting hair off and on for nearly 14 years. After graduating from Payson High School, she headed down to the Valley to study hair at West Valley Beauty College in 1994.

“I always did my mom’s hair and friends growing up,” she said. “I just always had a knack for it.”

After four years of styling in the Valley, Phillips moved back to Payson with her husband to start a family. She worked at a few local salons and then decided to take a break to raise her kids. But, after a few years at home, Phillips became restless and dreamed of cutting hair again.

In April, Phillips started styling again professionally and ended up with a station at Colorz Salon, 600 E. Highway 260, Suite 6.

“This is a great shop to work in,” Phillips said. “It’s so organized and beautiful, this is my favorite shop to work in.”

Phillips said she uses Redken for color, Matrix for perms and Scruples for highlighting. She also offers facial waxing and a detox foot bath.

“I always try to listen to clients directions and follow what they want,” she said. For more information or an appointment, call Colorz at (928) 468-6466.
