Christopher Creek talent show was a big hit with the audience

July 3, 2009

The Christopher Creek Talent and Art Show was held this past weekend at the LDS chapel, and if you missed it, you missed a good night of entertainment.

My daughter and I went down on Saturday to watch all the fun, and they did not disappoint us. The master of ceremonies was Robert White who opened the show with the honoring of the veterans followed by some wonderful patriotic music sung by Kristie Clement, Chalise Cole, the Hon family chorus, and Paul Peters with a dramatic reading of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by Marsha Ward.

Then the Barbershop Quartet, the Richardson family from Hunter Creek, opened the show, followed by Tim Ehrhardt on the trumpet, and a ballad sung by Aaron Buyack.

Act 3 opened with Karl Mann and his grandkids doing the song “Cool Water,” where Karl sang and played his guitar and the kids squirted him with there squirt guns. The audience really got into that.

Mackenzie and Christian Mann sang “I’m a Cowboy From Arizona” and Brandee Palmer did a great job with the song, “You Can’t Get a Man With a Gun.” Followed by some wonderful western songs sung by James West.

Act 4 was definitely the funniest act. With songs like “I Did, I Does, I Do” and an original by Jamie Hon called “Bla, Bla, Blah.” What a hoot! Mazy Hall performed a piano solo and Kaylee Wells sang “Tear Drops on My Guitar.”

Then, the funniest part of the entire show for me was the piano duet by the talented Wanda Palmer’s granddaughters, Kara and Kandace Palmer. These two young ladies ought to take there show on the road. I laughed so hard my mascara was running. The faster they played the funnier they got. They were up and down on the piano stool moving left and right bobbing their heads back and forth until one sister knocked the other one off the piano stool, it was hilarious. The only one laughing louder than me was Mrs. Coley and she has the greatest laugh.

Then, Patti and Randy White and family ended Act 4 with some family favorites.

The finale was by the Barbershop Quartet and the curtain call song was “God Bless America.”

It was a great talent show. Hats off to all the entertainers.

4th of July happenings

The Firebelles will be hosting a pancake breakfast and bake sale on July 4 at the fire station from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Breakfast includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, juice, milk and coffee. Ladies, start your ovens, they need baked goods for the sale, and as always, any funds raised at this event are used to support the Christopher/Kohl’s Fire Department.

Looks like the 4th is going to be a busy day. So, there is no need to cook, come to the fire department for breakfast, head to Creekside for lunch and then drive into town for the fireworks at 9 p.m. It is always an entertaining event.

Creekside is planning a 4th of July gathering. Music starts at noon and goes until the cows come home. There will be games for the kids. Bring along your chair, a blanket and an umbrella and enjoy the day.

Birthdays

Don Rhodes will be celebrating another birthday on July 8 and Patty Boesling of the OW Ranch will be adding another candle to her cake on July 9.

Wishing the two of you a happy birthday.
