What’s your TOMA?
Local business owners are invited to attend a free seminar July 14 to learn how to grow and keep a small business thriving.
Speakers will discuss Top Of Mind Awareness (TOMA), a survey that measures the public’s knowledge about a company.
The seminar will focus on how local businesses can earn more of their respective market shares by increasing TOMA.
For example, the survey will show how quickly people think of a company when a service is needed.
The seminar is free and will begin at 8 a.m., Tuesday, July 14 with registration and coffee. The presentation is from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Elks Lodge of Payson.
The seminar will be presented by national speaker Mark Rood and is sponsored by the Payson Roundup.

Payson man wins $1,000
Daniel Jackson of Payson won $1,000 during Desert Schools Federal Credit Union’s member referral sweepstakes.
The promotion that ran from December 2008 through April 2009, was part of the credit union’s 70-year anniversary celebration.
Cathy Graham, assistant vice president of marketing for Desert Schools said they created the promotion to get members more actively involved in telling their friends and neighbors about Desert Schools and to remind the public that we remain financially strong in today’s economy.
Credit union members who referred friends and family to join were eligible to win their share of a total of $70,000 and 70 prizes in honor of Desert Schools’ 70th year. Other ways to win included opening a checking account, setting up direct deposit or enrolling in bill pay with eStatements.
Jackson is the son of Stan Jackson, owner of the 260 Café located on Highway 260 in Payson.
Both father and son are Desert Schools members and say they’ve been impressed with the personalized service they’ve received from the credit union, especially at their local branch.
Yvonne Pierce, branch manager for the Payson Walmart location said,“On behalf of our Payson team, we wish Mr. Jackson congratulations. It was great to see a local member from Payson win his share of the prize money.”
