A 28-year-old Claypool man was convicted Wednesday of three felonies, the Gila County Attorney’s Office announced.
An eight-person jury found Christopher Angelo Amado guilty of two counts of misconduct involving weapons and possession of marijuana, attorney Daisy Flores said.
One of the weapon misconducts involved a sawed-off shotgun. In Arizona, it is illegal to possess a shotgun with a barrel length less than 18 inches, and Amado was also prohibited from possessing weapons.
Flores expressed gratitude for the trial efforts of case officer and former Deputy Jerry Valenzuela, Detective Johnny Holmes of the Gila County Sheriff’s Office and Officer Richard Shaw of the Globe Police Department. Sentencing is set for July 31 in Globe in front of Presiding Judge Peter Cahill of the Gila County Superior Court who also presided over the trial.
