The Payson Town Council will devote a 5:30 p.m. Wednesday work-study session to checking the landing gear on its sometimes rough relationship with the Payson Regional Airport Authority.
About two years ago, the town decided to save more than $100,000 by turning over the airport to a new, airport authority — composed mostly of the small-plane owners who live nearby and use the airport often.
The airport remains key to town plans — from the need to develop more commercial and light industrial development to the pending revision of the town’s general plan. The study session in the Rim Country Health & Retirement Community conference room at 807 W. Longhorn will take up a range of topics including the new airport master plan, economic development around the airport and the relationship between the town and the airport authority.
