Gerardo’s Italian Bistro open for coffee
A beloved favorite of residents and visitors for great meatballs and pizza, Gerardo’s Italian Bistro, is opening its doors extra early these days for coffee fans.
For the last nine years, the bistro, at 512 N. Beeline Highway, has traditionally opened for lunch and dinner.
On July 9, it began opening its doors at 7 a.m. for coffee service.
Early risers can now sit at the “coffee bar” and order up a latte or mocha and a scone or muffin from one of its baristas.
Owner Gerardo Moceri and his daughter make all pastries fresh on site.
The restaurant was recently recognized by Arizona Highways as one of the 25 best restaurants in Arizona.
Moceri said he decided to open early for coffee because he already had all of the equipment and staff needed.
Additionally, when nearby Fireside Espresso closed, it left a gap for a warm and welcoming place for people to sit down and have coffee.
If you are looking for a place to grab a quick cup of joe, this may not be the place.
However, if you are looking to linger and talk with friends, the restaurant provides the perfect atmosphere.
Patrons can also sit outside on the restaurant’s patio under one of its umbrellas.
Gerardo’s is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Although coffee is available all day, they close the coffee bar at 11 a.m.
