Saturday, July 18 there will be another Child Identification Program (CHIP) at the Payson Masonic Lodge. The program is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Each parent or guardian is provided with a free “Child ID Kit” that contains a photo ID card, color photos, digital fingerprints, recorded interview and a DNA cheek swab sample. This is all the information required by law enforcement to issue an Amber Alert should a child become missing.
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children considers this to be one of the most comprehensive child recovery and identification programs in the nation. None of the information collected is kept by the Masons or any other person, group or entity. All information is given to the parent or guardian for safe keeping.
The Masonic Lodge is located near the intersection of Highway 87 and Rancho Road, 100 yards east of the fire station. Watch for “CHIP” signs.
