How are you handling the hot weather? I know that most people in the Village do not have air conditioning units. I, for one, do not. All my windows are open and the fans are working overtime.
I hope that the monsoon rains start soon, the heat is getting pretty old now.
It is especially hard on the Snyder family, we are moving from one place to the one that my husband remodeled, and moving heavy furniture is not much fun when it is so hot. Luckily, we have help. Our daughter, Eileen, and her husband, Jon, are here for a week to help us move the heavy furniture.
Grand Opening
If you have traveled on Johnson Boulevard in the past few months, you may have noticed a place called The Shop Around The Corner.
The owner, Rose Walker, is holding a Grand Opening on Sunday, July 19 at 5 p.m The shop is a full-service salon featuring cuts, color, nails and pedicures, massage therapy, facials and hair extensions.
The address is 320 Johnson Blvd. in Tonto Village. There will be beverages and appetizers, a complimentary tote bag, a prize raffle and a gyrotonic demonstration.
If you would like more information, the number for the shop is (928) 478-4287.
Important meeting
The next Christopher Creek and Tonto Creek Watershed committee meeting is set for this Saturday, July 18 at the Tonto Rim Christian Camp.
The meeting will start at 9 a.m. under the direction of Larry Fultz. If you would like more information, email Larry at laf1939@gmail.com.
These meetings affect all of us that live near the creeks. The meetings are to enlighten residents of the amount of pollution that directly affects the creeks in our area through faulty septic systems. Please try to attend.
Tonto Village Chapel
There has been a change in the Bible study groups. Both the men and women in separate groups will be meeting on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Following the study group, there will be a prayer meeting at 11:30 until 12:30. The regular church service is still on Sundays at 9 a.m. with Bible study at 10:30 a.m.
Domino Divas
If you would like a break from the hum drum of every day, join the gals for a fun afternoon of a fun game of chicken foot or Mexican train and enjoy the good food made by the divas.
The games get started at 1 pm. at the Hellsgate Fire Department station in Tonto Village. Come and join in the fun.
Birthdays
Roy Tolby of Tonto Village III is having his big day on July 22. Jim Ballard, a former resident of the Village and now living in Okmulgee, Okla., celebrates his birthday on July 20. I know that he reads this column on the internet, so happy birthday to you and to Roy.
Double D doings
Last week, the regular players from Tonto Village swept the gals from Christopher Creek. The winners were Ethel Cain, Betty Koutz and Kara Shaw.
This past Sunday, the tables were taken over for the eight ball tournament. The winners were (yep, you guessed it) Cliff Landrum, followed by Joe Ferriera and Payge Ferriera.
They like to keep it in the family. Con-gratulations to all the winners.
