To Our Friends In Payson

All the persons noted below wish to thank the wonderful people of Payson for the heartfelt warmth extended to us over the recent passing of Cynthia Anne Watkins Pool. We are devastated by the loss of Cindy, but because of the graciousness of the community of Payson, our hurt is lessened and we are moving forward with our grieving. The outpouring of love from so many people for all of us was overwhelming. The touching articles in the Payson Roundup, the special sprint triathlon and the celebration of Cindy’s life at the high school will never, ever be forgotten. You opened your hearts to us, and we are incapable of putting into words what you mean to us.

We know that those of you who knew Cindy will forever have a place in your heart for her. She was a special person who loved Payson and all that it represents. A comment was made by one of Cindy’s sisters that the people of Payson represent what is wonderful about this country, caring people making strangers feel at home in a moment of tragedy. She went on to say, what a wonderful place to live and call home.

Thank you, Payson. You will always be a part of our lives.

Dave and Audrey Watkins, Washington, N.C., and for Roy Pool, Joe Carpenter, David Carpenter, Margaret and David Starner, Jamie Pool, Nicole Scott, Denise Watkins Filson, Dawn Watkins Mitchell
