What kind of buyer are you?

Charles Clark introduced a breakthrough system that figures out what motivates a buyer based on certain personality types.

His evaluation system was commonly known as Bulls, Owls, Lambs and Tigers, and is marketed to real estate professionals so they know how to best help their client.

From his Web site you can quickly guess which kind of animal you are.

Bulls want to get to the point and seek control of the negotiation.

They are decision-makers and like to know the bottom line.

In a home they look for a place that will be theirs and only theirs.

They like the color black and a functional kitchen. A bull will have someone else balance their checkbook.

Owls are not very assertive or emotional. A cathedral ceiling would be a waste of energy.

As far as colors go, the grayer the better.

They like a home that is highly organized and functional with little wasted space.

They are likely to over analyze a purchase. An owl will always balance their checkbook to the penny.

Lambs will show little assertiveness, but are highly sensitive and emotional.

They prefer pastel colors and particularly blues and yellows.

They love a kitchen that is open to the family room.

A home with lots of floodlights and a security system would be appealing. You may see a lot of ruffles in their decorating.

Decisions are tougher for them to make. If their checkbook does not balance, they feel bad.

Tigers work off emotion rather than reason.

They like a lot of mirrors and prefer high ceilings.

The kitchen should be a party place and very showy.

Greens and reds are their colors.

When they get emotional about a home they will get excited and buy it quickly.

A tiger does not even bother to record a transaction in their checkbook.

Most often one dominant type is most apparent.

However, we almost always have a combination of the four personality traits in each of us.

A Texas Realtor told an interesting tale about a tiger buyer that she had.

She called it the Ooohh, Bubba, Bubba house.

The wife was 100 percent tiger and would get very excited about features in some homes, but then they came to the Ooohh, Bubba, Bubba home.

As you may have guessed, her husband’s name was Bubba. They walked out onto the patio of one home and there sat a huge hot tub.

She started screaming OOOHH, BUBBA, BUBBA as she jumped up and down! She pointed to the hot tub and envisioned how great a time she and Bubba would have.

The home was always known as the Ooohh, Bubba, Bubba home and as far as we know, they lived in it happily ever after.
