When the builder built our house he made an effort to disturb as little of the natural foliage as possible. Now, 17 years later, the insurance companies and environmentalists, along with the gardeners want to tell me how to landscape my yard.

A 30-foot band will cover half of my yard. We will no longer be able to sit on my porch and feel like we are in a forest. I will have to look out at neighbors with yards that look like dumps.

Before my house would burn, dozens of houses would have already burned.

Please do not take away another of my freedoms. Reject the special interests and their fear-mongering theories.
