Business Buzz meeting

The Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold its Business Buzz meeting Thursday, June 18.

Nancy Welch of the Morrison Institute will be talking about “Arizona’s Past, Present and Future — What can we learn for Gila County and Payson.”

The luncheon meeting will be at the Gila Community College, room 301, and lunch will be catered by Cardo’s. The cost for lunch is $8 for chamber and Payson Regional Economic Development Commission members and $10 for non-members.

Businesses are welcome to bring business cards and brochures and share these items with those in attendance. The monthly business meeting will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Edward Jones financial advisers host broadcast presentation June 9

The three Payson and Pine Edward Jones financial advisers will host a free satellite broadcast titled, “Midyear Market Update: Your Questions Answered,” at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 9 at 411 S. Beeline Highway, Suite B.

The financial landscape has changed dramatically in the past year. Investors may be asking themselves, “What do all the changes mean to us and our investment strategy?”

During this interactive program, participants will hear questions from a panel of investors and answers from Alan Skrainka, Edward Jones’ chief market strategist. Skrainka will address where we were, where we are, and how to focus on what investors can control to keep their investment strategies on track.

Gila Community College seminar

Gila Community College’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is offering a seminar for business owners and managers entitled “Managing Your Business in a Time of Adversity.”

The seminar will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 16 at the Payson campus, 201 N. Mud Springs Road, room 301, and will be broadcasted to Globe and San Carlos campuses.

Speaker Stephen Hale of the SBDC Show Low office will discuss various topics including: What’s in the stimulus law for small-business owners?; Managing your business debt; Requesting a loan modification from your lender; Requesting an adjustment of your existing loan terms or conditions; Accessing new credit or renewing a line of credit; Requesting the lender release some collateral for other purpose; and What happens if I default on the loan?
