We’ve been on hiatus for the last month, with the Sawdust Festival and the new Visitors Guide, and the Tonto Natural Bridge re-opening taking up a great deal of time and energy. During that time, the Rim Country Classic Car Show was a great success, the Sawdust Festival was re-started, rain and all, and the Business Awards were presented to six of our many deserving businesses in Rim Country. Seems that we’ve had our hands full in Rim Country.
Now the “season” has started, with the annual influx of visitors and summer residents. Please remember that these folks are a major part of our businesses’ existence, and that they allow the rest of us to call Rim Country “home.” A smile and a “hello” are simple ways to greet our visitors, and it returns us to the “friendly town” standard that we all liked and caused us to stay.
My topic this month is familiar to you — “BE LOYAL, BUY LOCAL.” I was reminded today when a Chamber member called to see when the new Visitors Guide would be available. The member, like many others, is having a tough time remaining in business, and bought advertising in the Guide to get more exposure. This situation is repeated every day here in Rim Country. As purchasers of goods and services in Rim Country, please check to see if the product or service is available locally, and at a reasonable price.
I think you will be surprised at our diversity of products, and the competitive pricing, especially when contemplating a hot, stuffy three-hour commute to the Valley of the ‘way too much’ Sun. Please call the Chamber for assistance in finding what you are looking for, as our volunteers do …”tell people where to go.”
The rest of the season is filled with events that should attract locals and visitors alike. Thanks to a start by DJ Craig, there will be a Summer Concert series — the great Friends of Parks and Rec, Junction 87 and the Chamber have stepped up to make sure that music will continue under the stars at Green Valley Park. Please go online to www.paysonrimcountry.com or www.rimcountrychamber.com for listings of summer events or come to the Chamber and we will give you our most recent calendar and show you the events that did not make the calendar cut-off date.
Have a great June. Remember, one more time, “BE LOYAL, BUY LOCAL.”
