The Summer Concert in the Park series continues Saturday, June 20 with the Landon Shill Band, featuring country and rock music.
Bring the whole family, along with lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy this free concert in Green Valley Park. Concessions open at 6 p.m., and the music starts at 7 p.m.
No Taxpayer Town Hall
The Taxpayer Town Hall scheduled for Friday night, June 19 in Payson has been cancelled. The Senate is planning to still be in committees or on the floor that night, so Sen. Sylvia Allen, as well as Rep. Bill Konopnicki, can’t make it.
Hike Monument Peak Loop Trail Saturday
Join Parks and Recreation hiking instructors for a Payson Area Trails System (PATS) Group-Led Hike on the Monument Peak Loop Trail starting at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, June 20.
Participants will meet at the Monument Peak Loop Trailhead, which is approximately 3.3 miles east of Highway 260 on Granite Dells Road. The hike is three miles long and is easy hiking, with a mostly crushed granite trail surface and only a few inclines. Expect a little seasonal water on the trail.
This is a free event. Participants should wear hiking boots and bring water. Pre-registration is preferred, but participants can also register the day of the event. Play disc golf Saturday
Disc golf enthusiasts from around the state will compete in a tournament to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 20 at Rumsey Park.
Register now through the morning of June 20 at Rumsey Park, Ramada 3 to learn this new, exciting sport in a festive tournament atmosphere. Late registration/check-in starts at 8:30 a.m. at Ramada 1, and fees range from $15 for the novice player to $40 for the open division.

Mind-Body-Spirit Exploration June 20
Saturday, June 20, Vivian Seville will present the next experiential seminar in the Gila Community College Mind-Body-Spirit Exploration series.
Seville, Joyologist, CNA, LMT, is a licensed massage therapist with more than a decade of experience. In her work, she addresses all aspects of a client’s healing — physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. She believes rediscovering what brings you joy will ultimately reconnect you with your health.
This event will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 20 at the GCC Payson campus, 201 N. Mud Springs Road.
Alberta Cook is celebrating 80 years with a retrospective art show. Friends and former students are invited to the program, which will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, June 20 at 201 E. Forest Drive. Cook’s children — Julie, Brenda and Kelly Cook — host the retrospective.
Xeriscape contest entries sought
The High Country Xeriscape Council invites area residents to participate in a landscaping contest to promote the use of native plants, water conservation and sustainable landscapes.
The entry deadline is June 30. There are two divisions — one for residential and the second for commercial properties. Each will have a trophy and a grand prize of $200, plus an honorable mention plaque and $50 will be awarded. Judging will be held in July with an awards ceremony on Aug. 15.

Free workshop on sacred dance
The Crystal Lotus Gallery and Spiritual Center in Pine will host a free workshop on Sacred Dance in Modern Times from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 20. No experience is necessary to participate, but comfortable clothing is recommended.
The workshop will cover centering; African dance; sacred veil; sacred drum circle; woman’s sacred circle dance; and closing dance prayer.

Summer Block Party
The fun continues this weekend at the 5th annual Summer Block Party under the new ramada at the Pine Community Center from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, June 20. There will be food, games, a bounce house, friends, and music by Covenant 31.

The Payson Regional Medical Center’s Senior Circle, 215 N. Beeline Highway, offers a Lunch and Learn program the third or fourth Tuesday of every month. Learn to identify, report weather phenomena
The National Weather Service is offering free training classes to teach people how to properly identify and report significant weather phenomena and contribute to public safety.

The class is at Payson Fire Department, 400 W. Main St., from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 22. The training is sponsored by the Gila County Division of Emergency Management and Public Health Preparedness.
