Construction On Highway 87 Between Payson, Pine Begins June 22

ADOT work between Payson, Pine starts Monday

Work on State Route 87 between Payson and Pine begins Monday, June 22 and will continue through the remainder of the year.

Arizona Department of Transportation crews will begin logging and timber removal to accommodate the improvements. Although no lane closures or restrictions are anticipated at this time, drivers are asked to use extra caution and anticipate brief delays through the work zone as this project gets underway.

The planned roadwork on State Route 87 between Payson and Pine includes safety improvements and resurfacing the roadway with rubberized asphalt. Roadway safety enhancements will include upgraded guardrails, widened shoulders, widened roadway for turn lanes, extended box culverts for improved drainage and improved signage.

ADOT strives to keep the public informed about construction projects, lanes restrictions, and closures. An “eUpdate” is distributed periodically to help keep the Payson, Pine and Strawberry communities up to date and alert them of any expected construction activities that may affect traffic.

Stay in touch with the project team by calling the project hotline at 1-877-521-1118 _or e-mailing .

Changes to construction plans can happen frequently due to weather, equipment availability and personnel issues. ADOT tries to anticipate construction activities a week in advance, but changes may occur. Intermittent lane closures with short delays may not always be known in advance. _
