After a phony hydrant duped firefighters in May, Fire Marshal Bob Lockhart ordered removal of all “decorative hydrants” from town streets.
Lockhart informed the Pine Country Animal Clinic, which is across the street from the fire station, they would need to remove their beloved red and yellow hydrant or decorate it in a way to avoid any confusion with a real hydrant.
Not wanting to remove the hydrant, the clinic held a coloring contest and has picked a winner.
Bob Mykleby’s drawing was chosen as the winner with its dog motif, receptionist Dawn Brunson said. Mykleby will paint the hydrant within a week, possibly with the help of Fire Chief Marty deMasi.
Mykleby wins a $100 gift certificate to the clinic’s boutique for his drawing.
Honorable mention goes to deMasi who entered his own sketch of the hydrant with a veterinarian and dog on the front.

Question of the week
Do you think new Principal Anna Van Zile has a valid idea in eliminating the Asst. Principal and replacing it with an Athletic Director position that would share her duties as Principal?
