Student resource officer of the year

Sgt. Mike Fane was recently named the WE-TIP school resource officer of the year for 2008-2009.
Fane is the supervisor for the Gila County Sheriff’s Office student resource officer program.
In 2007, Fane received the Arizona School Resource Officers Association “Safe Schools Leadership Award.”
Fane made more than 100 referrals last year to the county attorney’s office involving student criminal activities in the Miami School District. Fane has taught some 200 hours of law enforcement subjects to grades K-12.
During last year’s National Association of School Resource Officers conference, Fane attended a seminar put on by the Drug and Alcohol Awareness and Prevention Council of America concerning the WE-TIP organization.
