Open enrollment
Payson Unified School District will hold open enrollment from March 1 through 31. Open enrollment allows families to request that their students attend a school out of their regular attendance area.
Applications are available at the schools, the District Office, 514 W. Wade Lane, or by calling (928) 474-2070 to receive an application by mail.
All applications must be returned to the Payson Schools District Office, P.O. Box 919, Payson, AZ 85547.
Sedona 99s to award aviation scholarships
The Sedona Red Rockettes Chapter of The 99s, the International Organization of Women Pilots, will again this year award aviation scholarships to aspiring women pilots.
Applicants must be Arizona women with a minimum of 10 hours flight time in the past six months. A written summary of the applicant’s plans and goals is also requested. Deadline for submitting applications is June 1. Scholarship awards will be announced in early July. Scholarship applications can be obtained by calling or e-mailing Julie Millis at (928) 774-7227 or jdmillis@msn.com.
The Sedona Red Rockettes, with members from Sedona, Camp Verde, Cottonwood, Flagstaff, Cornville and Dewey, hold various fund-raisers throughout the year to sponsor their annual scholarship program.
Spring break
Payson Community Christian School will be on spring break from March 9 to 20.
Can you spell better than a fifth-grader?
Enter the Community Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 28 at St. Philip’s Parish Center beginning at 9 a.m.
Teams of three spellers from local organizations will compete against three teams of fifth-graders for prizes and a traveling trophy. Space is limited to 15 local organizations. The deadline for entry is March 18.
The $100 team entry fee supports the Rim Country Literacy Program, and team members can solicit pledges. The team that raises the most pledge money will be awarded.
The pledges are tax-deductible.
